LEFT-BEHIND LIBERTARIANS

Planning to vote for Gary Johnson? Or are you as disgusted as we are? The LP could have nominated John McAfee, Marc Allan Feldman, Darryl W. Perry, or any other actual libertarian among the contenders. What a slap in the face to activists who worked to build up the LP, contributed their time, energy and money, and invested so much of themselves over the decades . . . for this inglorious moment?

Here’s Paul Joseph Watson’s take on Gary (and Bill Weld): PJW is a bit strident, but he is pretty funny . . . and IMO, right on here. (Video, 6:54)

THIS WEEK IN ISLAMIC FASHION

Phillipe Karsenty reveals the next stage in Islamic dress: This should horrify anyone who values freedom of speech or women’s rights. (Video, 9:31)

Burkas, both mandatory and banned in Iraq? What’s a girl to do? (Short article, however it did autoplay a short video clip of women and girls burning burkas in a newly liberated Syrian city.)

Most Muslim women don’t want to wear the burka anyway. (Article by Khadija Khan for The Clarion Project.)

The burkini is about sexual violence against women: (Great essay by Daniel Greenfield for Frontpage Mag.)

Stitching people’s mouths with wire for talking: Not fashion, exactly . . . more like involuntary body modification (as if western teenagers needed any new ideas.) 🙁 (News article)

Here’s what the 2016 S.I. Swimsuit Issue looks like with burkinis: Just to end this section on a lighter note. 🙂 (Slideshow)

OTHER RECOMMENDED LINKS

The Secession of French Muslims: A thoughtful essay by Yves Mamou for Gatestone Institute — It touches on the burkini controversy, but covers a lot more ground, such as impact on schools when Muslim kids refuse to integrate and object to the curriculum and text material. Highly recommended for anyone concerned with education and the introduction of Islam into schools.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer at Aug. 21 L.A. conference: (Youtube video, 36:18) Pamela Geller at her best for roughly the first 20 min. (warning, some disturbing details you won’t ever hear on the nightly news), then it’s Robert Spencer.  I can’t resist a few short Geller quotes . . .

“The truth is so radical that people’s heads explode . . . ”

“I do not worry about the fanaticism of the enemy — I worry about the confusion on our side.”

“Truth is the new hate speech.”

Amen to all that . . . she’s one brave, tough lady.

Being forced, or prevented from wearing one thing or another, or nothing at all, is simple aggression. If the Muslim women buy into their religion and agree to wear this silly costume, nobody else’s business. And these burkini things are no worse than many of the idiotic dresses worn by women in any era… and nicer looking than some of it. Voluntarily, who cares? Forced, aggression, but it’s pretty much up to the people being agressed against to do something about it.

Muslim women have been putting up with this crap for 1500 years now? Hmmmm. Who is really responsible for that?

Dear Mama, even a few months ago I’d have agreed with you . . . but not now.

I respectfully ask that you read the Daniel Greenfield piece linked above. According to our stats, sadly not one person has clicked on that link yet. But to make it easier for you, here’s a quote from the article:

” Does it matter what Muslim women wear to the beach? Arguably the government should not be getting involved in swimwear. But the clothing of Muslim women is not a personal fashion choice.

“Muslim women don’t wear hijabs, burkas or any other similar garb as a fashion statement or even an expression of religious piety. Their own religion tells us exactly why they wear them.

““O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies that they may thus be distinguished and not molested.” (Koran 33:59)

“It’s not about modesty. It’s not about religion. It’s about putting a “Do Not Rape” sign on Muslim women. And putting a “Free to Molest” sign on non-Muslim women.” (End quote.)

Knowing you, I have to think that — if you truly understood what Islamic dress codes for women really represent — you’d object to them too. Both for the sake of Muslim women who’d prefer NOT to be told how to dress, and for the sake of our own liberty (particularly as women) here in the west.

It’s not about how nice looking burkinis might be (some of them ARE pretty) but the right of western women to dress as WE please in our own countries, without having our choices being interpreted as an invitation to rape or other forms of assault.

Those forms of dress *are* a subtle form of aggression — firstly, over the women who by wearing them (voluntarily or not) demonstrate submission (read, inferiority) to Muslim men — and secondly, against western (or other) women who don’t, and are therefore considered “easy meat.”

Islam is totally incompatible with western cultures and religions. Of course Islamic women should be free to wear what they like at home — but wearing those garments in Europe and America IS a stealth attack on your freedom and mine. Maybe you just don’t see that yet? Haven’t you noticed how poorly Christians fare in Muslim countries, or that gays are pushed from tall buildings and hung from cranes? Or that Sweden is now the rape capital of the world, thanks to out of control immigration?

Muslim women put up with it because they have little choice. They’re indoctrinated from a very young age, and rebellious girls are unlikely to survive to adulthood. Their own fathers and brothers often subject them to honor killings. Neither you nor I would have fared well as Muslims, I’m afraid . . . 🙁

But of course, we’re still free to agree to disagree . . . 😉

  3. MamaLiberty Says:

    Dear Cat,
I understand all of that perfectly well. It is simply not any of my business to dictate what someone wears, or doesn’t wear. I also have zero influence on their religion, their indoctrination or the vile people – which includes many of the women – who impose this on others.

You do know that the genital mutilation is carried out by the women…

What should/can anyone do about it – since neither of us think the “wars” are right or even effective? If I had the opportunity to teach any of those women about their natural sovereignty, how – and why – to defend themselves, I’d gladly spend the rest of my life doing so. As it is… I don’t have that option…

  4. Vin's Brunette Says:

Dear Mama, we’ve had a lot on our minds; I needed time to think about a response.

Certainly there are women who — insanely enough — advocate FGM, like Huma’s mom. From what I’ve read, the impression I’ve gotten is that the procedure is usually carried out by men (not necessarily doctors.) But frankly, I don’t have the stomach to focus in on that subject intensively. It’s truly horrible, but a small part of the myriad horrors of Islam (i.e., Sharia). 🙁

“What should/can anyone do about it . . .”? Well, Vin and I have been doing what we can — researching, speaking out, writing — and have harmed no one in the process. Americans are at great risk of sleepwalking into an epic disaster, one for the history books. People who do not understand Islam don’t see it unfolding on our doorstep.

People who do see it are in the unenviable position of trying to point out the danger to people who don’t want to see it, and are often called vile names for doing so.

It’s not about personal clothing choices — people who don’t see how Islam is a threat to their survival in America are indeed helpless against it, as all too many are. I’m all for gun rights, but (as I think you know) situational awareness is the first and best line of defense. 😉

  5. MamaLiberty Says:

I never thought it had anything to do with clothing choices, which is why any “ban” is counterproductive at best, because it diverts attention from the real issues.

One of the real issues is that the same governments that “ban” the burkini are happily enforcing hundreds or thousands of other liberty destroying laws, “politically correct” regulations that contribute greatly to the destruction of our economy and society. One of the greatest of these, of course, is government ruined, tax theft supported “schools.” That, of course, is something people COULD actually do something about, but how many do?

The “precious snowflake” false feminism, forced “tolerance” by totally intolerant (other than their agenda) people, and all of the rest of the liberty destroying crap of the socialists are as much a threat as the Muslim culture being brought in and established by the same socialists. And I suspect we’d better pay attention to all of it…

And I still don’t know what to do about it, really. I’ve been writing, supporting freedom organizations, sounding the alarm for fifty years. So have many others. How many people know about and support the Advocates of Self Government (https://www.theadvocates.org/), or the Alliance for the Separation of School and State (http://www.schoolandstate.org/home.htm)…? Just to name two.

It just keeps getting worse. But I’m convinced that the Muslims are the least of our dangers.
